The metal frame was worth keeping. Replacing the worn wooden slats brought this garden bench back together.

What was worth saving

The decorative metal sides gave this bench its character. The wooden slats were worn, but that did not mean the whole bench had to go. The repair focused on keeping the frame and replacing the parts that needed attention.

A practical repair with custom woodwork

I replaced the wooden slats and refreshed the metal frame. The finished bench keeps the original shape and decorative ends, with new wood across the seat and back. The before-and-after photos show the change on the same piece.

This is restoration of an existing item: work that combines fitting, wood details and finishing in one handyman project.

Could your bench be repaired?

Send a photo of the whole bench, the underside and the points where the slats attach to the frame. Include any movement, missing fasteners or damaged metal. The condition of the frame helps decide whether replacing the wood makes sense.
