Keep the parts that give it character
The glass and shaped woodwork were the features to keep. The finish needed attention, so the work focused on preparing the existing door and giving it a fresh painted surface.
Preparation before the new finish
I worked through the old coating, prepared the wood and refinished the door. The project photos show surface preparation, work on the panels and the finished entry. The final pale green finish brings the details together without covering up the shape of the door.
Doors have flat areas, profiles and edges that all need attention. This job is one example of the detailed finish work that can be part of a handyman project.
